Sometime Sunday night or Monday morning one of the Cottonwoods on the South side of the Plaza cracked along a main limb. It was determined that the resulting limb configuration was unstable and likely to crack also. The decision was made to remove the unstable limbs and allow the tree to regrow. Upon reflection, the Board of Directors decided that the tree would not soon look good, and the time was right to replace it with a mature ash tree. Our landscapers are undertaking the tree replacement now and should have it completed by November 14th.

The Annual Meeting of Members will be taking place on Tuesday November 18th at 6:30 pm at the College of Santa Fe Lecture Hall. We will be electing four(4) new Board Directors and participation is greatly appreciated. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our RV Storage Lots were once again broken into. The new locks that were installed held perfectly, but this time the criminals decided to simply destroy the gates and fencing. The fences will be mended as of 10-31-08, but an overall problem persists in how to properly secure and protect the Lots and property within. I have security patrols making regular sweeps into the area for the next several weeks, and we are looking into hiring our own security for the RV Lots.

If you have a rented space in the Rancho Viejo RV Storage Lots letters A-D, please stop by the Association Office, located at 55 Canada del Rancho, Suite B, to pick up a new key. PLEASE BRING YOUR OLD KEY WITH YOU TO EXCAHNGE. I'll be in the office 9-4, M-F, if I am not in, Connie Donnell, the South Association Manager can assist you with your new key as well. In case we are both out, please call me on my cell phone, 577-0490 as I am most likely close by in the Association. The keys will be available starting in the afternoon on October 22nd.

Rancho Viejo will be holding elections at the Annual Meeting on November 18th. Candidate Statement of Interest Forms were sent out included with our quarterly billing ststements that owners recieved this September. The Statement of Interest Forms are due in the Rancho Viejo Offices, located at 55 Canada del Rancho (next to Lucky Bean Coffee) by 5pm on October 14th. Only the names on the statements recieved by October 14th will be considered. Please print your name as you wish it to appear on the ballot.

There will be a special meeting of the Board of Directors on Tuesday October 14th, at 6:30PM to discuss and approve the 2009 Rancho Viejo North budget. Homeowner input is welcome. The meeting will be held at the offices of Rancho Viejo North and South at 55 Canada del Rancho, Suite B.

If you have a vehicle stored in Rancho Viejo Lot D Storage Lot, we have replaced that lock. The key will be available at the office M-F 9-5. On weekends please contact either Anthony Lujan, 471-2219, or Bruce Krasnow, 470-2536 to obtain the key.

Two of the RV storage lots managed by the North Association were burglarized over the weekend.

The break-in was discovered Saturday morning by a North board member who went to retrieve his vehicle from Lot C. The gates on Lot C and Lot D were open and some vehicles -- perhaps 8 in all - were entered or burglarized.

The chain on Lot C was cut with pieces of the chain left on the ground. Both the lock and chain from Lot D were missing.
